Avista Corp.’s external marketing communications campaign “The Powermonger,” the Kalispel Tribe of Indians’ print advertising campaign, and HollisterStier’s “Bee Aware” external marketing communications campaign were the big winners at the 16th Annual Spark Awards on April 21 at The Lincoln Center.
The Spark Awards are presented by the Spokane Regional Marketing and Communications Association (Spokane MarCom) to recognize the best work by local marketing, communications and public relations professionals.
Local professionals submitted about 100 entries ranging from publications and feature stories to website design and media relations campaigns. The award entries were judged by the Capital City Communicators of Boise. The top entries out of all submissions received Brightest Spark Awards.
The three Brightest Spark Awards were as follows:
Kalispel Tribe of Indians Print Advertising Campaign
Produced by Klündt | Hosmer and April Pierre
The Powermongor by Avista Corp.
Produced by Avista Corp., Coates Kokes Agency, Hamilton Studios
HollisterStier Allergy’s Bee Aware Program
Produced by HollisterStier Allergy & Mentus Life Science
The Dussault Award was chosen from these three Brightest Spark Awards at the discretion of the judges. This “best of show” award must receive high scores and be recognized as a campaign/program that had a significant impact on the economy and prosperity of our region. The winner of the Dussault Brightest Spark Award was the The Powermongor by Avista Corp.
The judges of this year’s Spark Awards had this to say about the Dussault Brightest Spark Award:
Through its multi-faceted campaign titled the “The Powermonger,” Avista successfully integrated a marketing communication effort targeted at college renters into its overall long-term strategy to educate the community about energy efficiency. It was clear that the campaign was well targeted, well planned and well executed. The campaign materials, which included an awareness kit, t-shirts, magnets and posters, were cohesive, creative, and engaging. The clever videos, starring a house of college renters in an MTV “Real World” like setup, proved to be both entertaining and educational. We selected this campaign for the Dussault Award because it demonstrated an impressive use of marketing and communications skills and a significant impact on its target audience and the greater community.
The judges also awarded Excellence and Merit Awards for each submission category based upon specified criteria. All of the award winners are listed below.
Spokane MarCom is Spokane’s leading communication organization dedicated to advancing the integrated marketing communication profession through professional development, community impact and commitment to credibility. Proceeds from the Spark Awards fund internships for area college students seeking careers in marketing, communications or related fields.
